Dubai hosts OneHealth for the first time in the Middle East and Asia

Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and President of the Emirates Genetic Diseases Society in the UAE, Dubai will host the OneHealth Conference for the first time in the Middle East and Asia on June 23 and 24, 2023. The conference is organized by BEST Health Consultants in partnership with the Emirates Researchers Center for Studies and Research and the Emirates Genetic Diseases Society

Public health, animal health, plant health, and good environmental quality are now integrated into the One Health approach that aims to optimize the health of living beings in a better and safer world. The Dubai One Health Conference is the first initiative in the MENA countries to reunite One Health actors to discuss and strategize the implementation of the One Health concept in these countries. As the UAE is one of the important countries in the region that promotes scientific studies, innovation and the promotion of ambitious integrated projects, Dubai was chosen for this first event.

Professor Yahya Chabloun, Director of Research and Director of the Paval Laboratory at the University of Grenoble-Alpes, France, internationally known for his tremendous work in infectious diseases and the development of vaccines to fight deadly viruses such as HIV. (HIV), the virus responsible for AIDS. that there is an urgent need for Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa to participate in the Global Health Initiative and determine how to implement it. He believes that the recent emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has provided evidence of the seriousness of causative diseases found in animal reservoirs and the lack of preparedness due to poor globalization of health issues.

By addressing the links between humans, animals, plants and the environment, Dubai One Health will pave the way for addressing the full spectrum of disease control. This includes prevention, detection and prediction that will help prepare, respond, optimize management and contribute to global health security.

The Dubai One Health conference will be revamped annually to discuss progress and plan the next steps for One Health implementation.
