UAE Journalists Association and Emirates Scholar Sign MoU to Strengthen Joint Cooperation

Dubai – February 2026

A delegation from Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies visited the headquarters of UAE Journalists Association in Dubai, as part of efforts to enhance joint cooperation and exchange expertise in research, knowledge, and media fields.

During the visit, the delegation toured the association’s building, where they were introduced to its facilities and various departments, and learned about the media and professional activities organized throughout the year. They also visited the Media Creativity Center, the Training Center, and the association’s theater, which accommodates up to 100 people.

As part of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two entities, aimed at supporting media studies and research, organizing specialized training programs and workshops, and exchanging knowledge-based content, contributing to the development of professional performance and strengthening research work related to journalism and media.

The MoU was signed by Fadila Al Maaini, Chairperson of the UAE Journalists Association, and Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of the Center and Board of Trustees Member.

Fadila Al Maaini stated that “the signing of the MoU stems from the association’s commitment to expanding partnerships with national research centers”, emphasizing that cooperation with Emirates Scholar enhances the association’s direction toward integrating journalistic work with scientific research. She noted that the agreement represents a qualitative addition that links journalism with research and strengthens knowledge content that serves both media and society.

She added that the association places special emphasis on partnerships that support capacity building and the development of journalists’ research and analytical skills, in line with the rapid changes in the media landscape and in support of the press’s role in national development.

For his part, Dr. Fawaz Habbal expressed his appreciation—on behalf of himself and the accompanying delegation—for the warm reception, affirming their aspiration to activate the MoU’s provisions in a way that achieves shared goals and opens new horizons for future cooperation. He stated:
“We view this partnership as a strategic step toward leveraging scientific research in the service of journalistic work, and enhancing the production of rigorous knowledge-based content grounded in research and scientific analysis.”

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing communication and coordination to ensure the effective implementation of the MoU’s terms, achieve its objectives, and strengthen institutional cooperation in support of media and scientific research development in the United Arab Emirates.
