Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi Highlights UAE’s Role in Climate & Technology Solutions at ‘Yerevan Dialogue 2025’

Yerevan, Armenia – H.E. Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, former UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Chancellor of the Board of Trustees at Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies, participated in the prestigious Yerevan Dialogue 2025 held on May 26–27 in the Armenian capital. The international forum convened a distinguished group of global policymakers, academics & industry experts to discuss critical issues including climate change, peace and security and technological advancement.

During his participation in a high-level panel titled “Exploring the Unknown,” H.E. Al Nuaimi addressed three key themes that define the future of humanity: climate preparedness, the responsible use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, and the necessity for international cooperation in tackling shared global challenges.

“Climate change is no longer just an environmental concern — it is a multidimensional crisis impacting global security, economies, and social systems,” said Al Nuaimi. He emphasized the urgent need to invest in future-focused technologies, including AI, quantum computing, and nanotechnology, to generate real-time, data-driven solutions that aid policymakers worldwide.

He further proposed the creation of a global platform for emissions reporting and environmental transparency, driven by open collaboration among universities, governments, and international institutions. Al Nuaimi highlighted the UAE’s leadership in this domain, suggesting that the country, through pioneering entities like the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology UAE, now part of Khalifa University and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), could serve as a central hub for this effort.

He stated:
“Addressing global challenges requires the courage to ask bold questions, link scientific advancement with responsible governance, and create flexible frameworks that empower us to explore the unknown with readiness, vision, and innovation.”

The UAE has already made significant progress in advancing artificial intelligence in the UAE, particularly in climate-focused initiatives and smart infrastructure. Institutions such as the Masdar Institute in the UAE continue to play a crucial role in developing sustainable solutions through research and innovation in clean energy, climate resilience, and smart city planning.

The Yerevan Dialogue 2025 is an annual global forum dedicated to addressing contemporary global challenges, including geopolitical shifts, green development, peacebuilding and technological evolution. It serves as a collaborative platform for leaders from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector.
