Emirates Scholar Center and Church of Jesus Christ Explore Scientific Cooperation Following IDCT 2025

Abu Dhabi, May 22, 2025 – The Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies met with Elder Adilson de Paula Parrella, a member of the Middle East/North Africa Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanied by Mr. Steven Ericksen, Executive Assistant to Elder Parrella, in a research-focused meeting aimed at strengthening scientific and cultural cooperation.

The meeting builds on the distinguished partnership between the two parties during the 2nd edition of the International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference (IDCT 2025), held in Abu Dhabi and organized by the Emirates Scholar Center.

The conference garnered wide acclaim and participation from global thought leaders and decision-makers. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was one of the primary partners supporting the conference’s mission to build bridges of dialogue and understanding among cultures and religions.

During the meeting, the Center’s delegation presented key research initiatives focused on tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and intercultural dialogue, including the International Journal of Civilizations and Tolerance Studies, published in partnership with leading global academic institutions. The journal aims to promote high-quality research that enhances mutual understanding among nations.

Both parties also discussed prospects for expanded collaboration in the coming phase, particularly in the fields of comparative studies in law, religion, and the social sciences, through coordination with Brigham Young University (USA) and the Church’s International Center for Religious Studies. Proposed initiatives include joint research, scholarly exchange and collaborative events that promote tolerance and intercultural engagement.

This meeting reaffirms the Emirates Scholar Center’s commitment as a leading research institution to fostering global dialogue through strategic partnerships and contributing to the UAE’s position as a global hub for tolerance, openness and human-centered knowledge for a better future.
