Emirates Scholar Hosts Its 5th Annual Ceremony under the Theme: Towards Sustainable Scientific and Knowledge Impact.

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates – Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies held its 5th Annual Ceremony at the residence of H.E Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council and Chancellor of the Board of Trustees of Emirates Scholar. The event was attended by H.E Sheikh Dr. Ammar bin Nasser Al Mualla, UAE Educational and Technology Attaché in Egypt and a Board of Trustees Member, along with a distinguished group of dignitaries, academic leaders, and representatives from governmental and academic sectors both within the UAE and abroad.

The Ceremony opened with a keynote speech by H.E Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, who expressed pride in the Center’s achievements, emphasizing that the Center’s rapid progress in research performance is a tangible reflection of the UAE’s visionary leadership in fostering a culture of scientific excellence and utilizing knowledge as a powerful tool to serve society and shape the future. He highlighted that the establishment of new entities within the Center is a clear indication of its commitment to sustainable scientific and knowledge impact.

In his remarks, Dr. Firas Habbal, President of the Center and Vice Chancellor of the Board of Trustees, shared that the Emirates Scholar Center achieved a 28% increase in research projects in 2024 and expanded its membership base to over 37,000 new members from 72 countries. Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director General and Board of Trustees Member, added that the Center aims to achieve a 60% increase in scientific citations and join over 10 new international indexing databases by 2026. He affirmed that these accomplishments align closely with the UAE’s national strategies, which place scientific research at the heart of future development—an approach the Center is fully committed to advancing.

The Ceremony highlighted key achievements from 2024 and presented the Center’s strategic vision for 2025–2026 under the theme “Towards Sustainable Scientific and Knowledge Impact” Several major initiatives were announced, including the launch of the Emirates Scholar Academy, aimed at training and developing national talent through specialized programs; the introduction of the Digital Scientific Library, which offers open access to a growing collection of peer-reviewed research and studies; and the unveiling of the 2025–2026 Training Courses Guide, reflecting the Center’s expansion into scientific and professional capacity building.

Additionally, the Center announced the establishment of the Emirates Science and Research Foundation as an independent entity focused on advancing research and training projects at both local and regional levels—an important strategic milestone in the Center’s growing scientific presence.

As part of its continued expansion in academic publishing, the Center also announced the launch of 3 new peer-reviewed journals, bringing the total to 14 specialized publications covering a wide range of fields including humanities, politics, society, and technology. The digital library now houses over 26 scientific reports and studies accessible to researchers and professionals worldwide.

The Ceremony also welcomed new members to the Board of Trustees, including H.E Dr. Ashraf El-Shihy, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt, H.E. Sheikha Noora Alshamsi and H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shammari, along with a group of distinguished figures from the academic and public sectors, whose contributions are expected to further enrich the Center’s research mission.

The Ceremony concluded with the honoring of several strategic partners with tokens of appreciation, in recognition of their vital role in supporting the Center’s mission and enhancing its local and international scientific standing. Through this Ceremony, Emirates Scholar Center reaffirms its commitment to advancing research tools and expanding the reach of scientific impact, in alignment with the UAE’s vision for leadership in science and societal development.
