The Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Enters Guinness World Records as the Largest Linguistic Project Globally.
H.H Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Receives a Guinness World Records Certificate for the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, This morning, Wednesday, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, received a Guinness World Records certificate recognizing the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language as the largest and most comprehensive linguistic project in the world, with a total of 127 volumes.
His Highness emphasized that this achievement reflects the significance of the extensive work and unparalleled scientific value offered by the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language. He expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to this project, including researchers, scholars, reviewers, editors, proofreaders, the publishing house, the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, and linguists specializing in Arabic dictionaries across the Arab world.
His Highness praised Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to delivering well-documented sciences and undertaking cultural and scientific projects that serve the Arab world and the broader global community. He highlighted the vital role of collaboration among scholars from various countries, which has enriched the value of these substantial works that safeguard the history, sciences, and language of the Arab nation.
On our part, as the Emirates Scholars Center for Research and Studies subsidiary of Emirates Science and Research Foundation, we are proud to have been part of this prominent project, which marks a significant achievement in documenting and promoting the Arabic language on a global scale. Through a specialized team in linguistic research and studies, we contributed to the preparation and proofreading of several volumes of the dictionary, showcasing our commitment to participating in major cultural projects that serve and preserve the rich heritage of our language.
