Emirates Scholar becomes the first Emirati and Arab institutional partner of the European Medical Association

The Emirates Scholar European Medical Association partnership reflects more than a year of sustained engagement by the Center to build long-term European cooperation. It recognizes the Center’s distinguished role in advancing research both nationally and internationally. Through this partnership, Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies (ESCRS) aligns its objectives with the UAE’s leadership in innovation, academic excellence and sustainable development.

With over 250,000 EMA members—including researchers, academics, and healthcare practitioners—the collaboration opens doors to new opportunities in scientific publishing, joint research initiatives, and participation in leading international conferences. This strengthens the UAE’s position as a key contributor to the global scientific and medical community.

Commitment to Innovation and Knowledge

Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director General and Board of Trustees Member at Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies (ESCRS), emphasized the significance of this achievement. He stated:
“Our official membership in the European Medical Association highlights our commitment to advancing medical research both regionally and globally. It represents an important step forward in activating more than 20 joint research projects over the next three years, particularly in modern medicine, rehabilitation, and mental health. The Emirates Scholar European Medical Association partnership will also establish a strong framework for specialized events, academic exchange, and joint innovation.

European Arab Medical Congress 2025

One of the most prominent initiatives within the partnership will be the 2nd European Arab Medical Congress (EAMC 2025). Organized by Emirates Scholar and Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, in cooperation with the European Medical Association and the Emirates Medical Association, the congress will take place from 9–11 October 2025 at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center. Supported by the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau, the event will focus on “Practical Approaches in Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychology”, showcasing practical applications of advanced research.

Professor Vincenzo Costigliola, President of the European Medical Association (EMA), welcomed the agreement:

Future Plans and Initiatives

• Developing a unified digital platform for researchers from both institutions.
• Establishing a joint peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to medicine and health sciences.
