World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 – Abu Dhabi
The World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 will take place on September 23 to 25, 2024, in the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – under the patronage of His Royal Highness Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The WCR 2024 is three-day program being jointly organized by Rehabilitation International (RI) & International Social Security Association (ISSA) and hosted by Zayed Higher Organization (ZHO) in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) the multi-award-winning venue, that has hosted some of the world’s leading events in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The overall theme of our World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 is “Work &Employment”. Our goal is to address the challenges and barriers that people with determination 
face on the job market as well as to build awareness of the broad array of career opportunities available to the persons with disabilities worldwide.
Organizer
With the aim of aligning and consolidating the efforts made in the field of People of Determination care, and as per the directives of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may his soul rest in peace), The Late H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may his soul rest in peace), issued, during his tenure as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the Law No. (2) dated April 19, 2004, establishing Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, as an umbrella for all humanitarian bodies, social services, People of Determination institutions, and any future bodies established in Abu Dhabi for humanitarian goals.
The Amiri Decree No. (7), for the year 2014, was issued on 29/05/2014, forming a new Board of Directors for Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, chaired by H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
ZHO enjoys full financial and administrative independence and is run by its Board of Directors of 7 to 11 members. ZHO performs its activities as per the plans and directives of its Board to achieve its goals. The General Secretariat of the Organization takes all necessary actions and measures to ensure ZHO’s efficient functioning.
All ZHO’s centers and clubs are contributing to achieving these noble goals, with a keen interest in supporting the People of Determination Abu Dhabi community, and ensuring their full inclusion and empowerment across all aspects of society.
Founded in 1922, Rehabilitation International (RI) is a worldwide organization comprised of people with disabilities, service providers, government agencies, academics, researchers and advocates working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. With member organizations in more than 100 countries and in all regions of the world, RI also provides a forum for the exchange of experience and information on research and practice.
The ISSA promotes excellence in social security administration through professional guidelines, expert knowledge, services and support to enable its members to develop dynamic social security systems and policy throughout the world.
Venue
The multi-award-winning Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is the largest exhibition venue in the Middle East and is just 15 minutes from Zayed International Airport The venue features an unparalleled 153,678 sqm of indoor and outdoor event space. This includes 12 interconnected exhibition halls, an atrium, concourse space, a 6000 capacity ICC, two conference halls as well 21 meeting rooms. Marina Hall, due to open in Autumn 2022, will be the largest hall of its kind in the region, a 10,000 sqm space that enables organisers to create showcases both on and off the water. The hall will be connected to ADNEC via a footbridge and easily accessible from Khaleej Al Arabi Street.ADNEC also features a wide range of restaurants, cafés, shops, hotels, business facilities and on-site service providers.
