Maitha Al Shamsi: Public-private partnerships boost scientific research

Her Excellency Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Advisor to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (Umm Al Emarat), stressed the need to establish partnerships for the success of the scientific research process between universities, research centers, government institutions and the private sector, whether at the local, regional or international level through participation in scientific conferences that focus on exchanging ideas, important issues and research results in all fields.
This came during her participation in the activities of the Fourth Forum for Women in Scientific Research under the slogan: “Power: Towards Sustainable Empowerment of Women in Scientific Research and Innovation”, organized by the University of Sharjah for two days under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.
Her Excellency Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi conveyed Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s greetings and congratulations to all women in the UAE on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day.
She added that the convening of the forum comes to keep pace with the successive developments in scientific research, especially that the interest in women’s participation and activating their role in this field has become a strategic priority for the progress of countries and enhancing their competitive capabilities, noting that according to the visions of the leadership and the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and her adoption of future strategies; she was able to achieve many achievements for women in all fields.
In his opening speech, Dr. Humaid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, praised the continuous support of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University, and expressed his thanks and gratitude for his patronage of the fourth edition of the forum, saying: “The organization of the forum comes out of the university’s keenness to enhance the role of women in scientific research and encourage them to acquire science and knowledge and excel in various fields to contribute to global development.”
