UAE fosters Dialogue of Tolerance at the International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference 2025

Abu Dhabi – Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies successfully concluded the second edition of the International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference 2025, held from February 19-21 at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center. Under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Tolerant Future,” the conference brought together a distinguished group of academics, experts, policymakers, and religious leaders from around the world.
Dr. Firas Habbal, President of the Center and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the significance of this global platform, stating:
“We are witnessing a new era in the dialogue between civilizations, where academic collaboration is essential in developing sustainable solutions to global challenges. We hope the outcomes of this conference will help shape a future based on mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence”.
Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Conference President and Director-General of Emirates Scholar Center, highlighted the importance of engaging young generations in fostering tolerance:
“Empowering youth for a tolerant future requires clear strategies rooted in scientific research, education, and intercultural communication. This is precisely what we aim to achieve through this conference”.
UAE’s Commitment to Dialogue and Coexistence
During the event, Dr. David Rutstein, Secretary-General of the Bahá’í International Community in Israel, praised the UAE’s commitment to promoting a culture of dialogue and coexistence.
“The UAE has demonstrated that tolerance is not merely a theoretical concept, but a practical approach embedded in policies and initiatives that contribute to building cohesive and prosperous societies,” Dr. Rutstein noted. He further stressed that strengthening religious and academic dialogue creates new opportunities for bridging perspectives and addressing global challenges through cooperation and openness.

Strengthening Academic Collaboration
As part of its commitment to advancing research and academic partnerships, Emirates Scholar Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bahá’í International Community to launch joint research initiatives between UAE and Israel focusing on the role of religion in fostering sustainable peace.
The conference concluded with key recommendations emphasizing greater collaboration between academic and religious institutions to promote a culture of tolerance. Additionally, it called for new youth-focused initiatives designed to empower the next generation in building inclusive and respectful societies.
