Abu Dhabi, February 21, 2025 – The 2nd International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference concluded its proceedings at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center after three days of intensive discussions from February 19 to 21. The event brought together 3,200 participants from 112 countries, including leading academics, religious leaders, policymakers, and experts to address the challenges of peaceful coexistence and strengthen cross-cultural dialogue. The conference also focused on the critical role of youth in shaping a future rooted in tolerance and mutual understanding.
Held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, the conference was presented by Emirates Scholar Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Tolerant Future”.
Launch of “UAECoexistence.AI” Platform to Foster Global Dialogue
As part of its commitment to leveraging innovation and technology to promote coexistence, Emirates Scholar Center announced the launch of its new AI-powered platform, “Co-Existence AI.” Inspired by the UAE’s vision for strengthening tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity, the platform is designed to document historical initiatives and insightful quotes that support the culture of dialogue. It also provides resources to combat extremism and celebrate cultural diversity, while fostering global community engagement.
The platform aligns with national initiatives, such as the National Tolerance Program and the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, demonstrating the center’s commitment to utilizing technology to promote human values and build bridges between civilizations.

Leadership Vision
Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of Emirates Scholar Center and President of the Conference, emphasized that the event embodies H.H Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s vision of making the UAE a global model for tolerance and coexistence.
He stated: “At Emirates Scholar Center, we believe that scientific research is fundamental to fostering progress and building harmonious societies. This year’s conference witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with a 40% increase in participation compared to last year. We welcomed 3,200 participants from 112 nationalities and 36 religious backgrounds, speaking more than 10 languages. Additionally, 80 research abstracts and 40 scientific papers were presented, reflecting the crucial role of academic research in spreading the values of dialogue and tolerance.”
10 Key Recommendations to Strengthen Global Tolerance
The conference concluded with 10 key recommendations aimed at fostering global dialogue and peaceful coexistence. Among the most notable:
- Increasing youth participation in interfaith and intercultural dialogue through dedicated platforms and programs.
- Empowering women to play a more active role in promoting tolerance and ensuring balanced representation in global events.
- Leveraging AI technologies to combat hate speech and promote inclusive dialogue.
- Enhancing academic collaboration by supporting joint research projects between universities and think tanks.
- Developing practical intercultural communication tools through workshops and specialized training programs.
- Expanding interfaith dialogue to address global challenges such as climate change and social justice.
- Strengthening cultural diplomacy and encouraging community-led initiatives that reinforce values of tolerance.
- Documenting and sharing historical examples of coexistence to serve as valuable lessons for modern societies.
- Fostering collaboration between religious leaders and policymakers to develop sustainable initiatives supporting tolerance.
- Establishing a global tolerance network to connect individuals and institutions, facilitate knowledge exchange, and organize joint initiatives.
Academic Partnerships to Advance Research on Cultural Diversity



On the sidelines of the conference, Emirates Scholar Center signed several collaborative agreements to enhance academic research on tolerance and interfaith dialogue. These included a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi University and Trends Research & Advisory, aimed at expanding academic cooperation in intercultural and interfaith studies. Additionally, the center signed an MoU with the Druze Religious Council and a cooperation agreement with the Bahá’í International University, reinforcing its commitment to supporting research on cultural pluralism and fostering dialogue-driven societies.
The 2nd International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference successfully highlighted the UAE’s leadership in promoting global dialogue and fostering an inclusive, knowledge-based approach to tolerance. With an expanded network of international scholars, religious leaders, and policymakers, the conference laid the groundwork for sustainable academic and policy-driven initiatives that will continue shaping a more connected and harmonious world.
