Emirates Scholar signs an MoU with Springer Nature to enhance scientific publishing and support researchers

Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Springer Nature, one of the world’s leading academic publishing institutions, establishing a strategic framework for cooperation in research, academic development and scientific publishing in line with the highest international standards. The agreement was signed by Dr. Firas Habbal, President & Vice Chancellor of the Emirates Scholar, while Dr. Clifford Chuwah, Executive Publishing Editor, signed on behalf of Springer Nature.
The MoU aims to build a comprehensive framework of collaboration between the 2 parties, focusing on the development of joint scientific journals, the enhancement of open-access research, and the support of researchers through specialized training programs and workshops on research ethics and academic publishing. The agreement also outlines shared foundations for developing research initiatives related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, aligning with the UAE’s vision of fostering a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation.
Dr. Firas Habbal stated that the signing of the MoU marks a significant step in strengthening the Center’s efforts to elevate the UAE’s scientific presence on the global stage. He emphasized that this partnership with Springer Nature will contribute to improving the quality of published research and providing global platforms for researchers. He added: “Through this strategic collaboration, we aim to build an advanced publishing ecosystem that empowers researchers, expands opportunities for developing high-quality Arabic scientific content, and strengthens the UAE’s role as a bridge connecting the region with the global knowledge community.”
For his part, Dr. Clifford Chuwah, Executive Publishing Editor of Springer Nature, expressed his pleasure with the partnership, noting that the collaboration paves the way for future advancements in scientific publishing. He said: “Springer Nature is delighted to partner with Emirates Scholar in publishing and increasing the visibility of research from UAE on global stage.”The signing ceremony concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to implementing the agreement in the upcoming period and establishing a joint research team to work on collaborative initiatives that will serve the scientific community and support research progress in the region. The partnership is expected to provide Emirati researchers with unprecedented tools and opportunities to enhance their scientific impact at the international level.
