Emirates Scholar participation in the Global Tolerance and Human Fraternity Conference

The Global Tolerance and Human Fraternity Conference launched under the theme “Human Fraternity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in collaboration with the Muslim Council of Elders and TRENDS Research & Advisory. The conference serves as a high-level international platform for responsible intellectual dialogue on the future of human values amid rapid digital transformations.

The conference attracted more than 180 international speakers and over 400 religious leaders, intellectuals, and Emirati, Arab, and international participants in celebration of Emirati–Kuwaiti relations. Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies participated in the sixth edition of the conference, which addressed a range of critical issues, including the relationship between the humanities and technology, the role of philosophical and religious knowledge in guiding the development of artificial intelligence in a way that ensures a balance between innovation and ethical responsibility, as well as examining the challenges and opportunities related to the impact of smart technologies on social cohesion and shared human identity.

Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of the Center and Board of Trustees Member, took part in the closing session titled “Digital Governance and Ethics (Human-Centric AI) according to UNESCO Standards 2021” Dr. Fawaz Habbal highlighted the importance of embedding the human dimension in AI development, stating:
“AI learns from what we teach it; if we want responsible intelligence, we must start with responsible knowledge”
He stressed that AI reflects the values and knowledge we feed into it, and that building responsible intelligent systems begins with strengthening human and ethical awareness among policymakers, developers, and communities. He further emphasized that the future of AI should not be measured solely by technical capability, but by its commitment to protecting human dignity, promoting digital justice, and supporting social cohesion.

The conference embodies the vision of the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in promoting tolerance and coexistence, and strengthening dialogue among cultures and religions within the framework of the Global Alliance for Tolerance initiative. This initiative seeks to build cross-border intellectual and institutional partnerships, develop digital platforms capable of countering hate speech and misinformation, and transform the digital space into an environment that supports understanding and peace.
