Abu Dhabi to Host the International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference for the Second Time

Abu Dhabi, UAE – February 19, 2025
Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the UAE, the second edition of the “International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference” will take place in Abu Dhabi, under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Tolerant Future.” The event is organized by Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies, subsidiary of Emirates Science and Research Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, and supported by the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau of the Department of Culture and Tourism. The conference will be held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center from February 19-21, 2025.
Building on the success of its first edition, the conference continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering intergenerational dialogue and understanding. Focusing on empowering youth leaders, speakers from governmental, academic, and global organizations will share insights on how youth empowerment can enhance tolerance. Topics will include cultural exchange, the role of education in promoting coexistence, and the importance of embracing cultural diversity to build cohesive societies.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council and Chancellor of the Board of Trustees at Emirates Scholar Center, stated:
“The convening of this conference in Abu Dhabi for the second time reflects the UAE’s commitment to its pioneering role in promoting the values of tolerance and global dialogue. Empowering youth is not merely about preparing them for the future but about instilling profound humanitarian values in their hearts and minds, enabling them to become advocates of peace and builders of bridges between cultures and civilizations. We believe that youth are the cornerstone of positive change, and through this platform, we provide them with the tools and insights to shape a future founded on understanding, coexistence, and harmony among nations.”

Her Excellency Afra Al Sabri, Director General of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, emphasized that the convening of the “International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference” for the second time in Abu Dhabi, under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Tolerant Future,“ and under the gracious patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, with the presence of prominent global figures, reaffirms that the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has become a global capital for tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity. It stands as an example and model for promoting the culture of peaceful coexistence and dialogue worldwide.
Al Sabri added that the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence is deeply committed to collaborating with various local and international institutions to achieve the noble goals for which the ministry was established. She affirmed that His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak consistently calls for the full activation of the ministry’s capabilities in cooperation with local, federal, and academic institutions to realize its objectives on the ground. This includes ensuring that the culture of tolerance and coexistence reaches all segments of society, particularly the youth.
She praised the choice of “Empowering Youth” as the main theme for the second edition of the conference, highlighting that youth are the most vital segment of society, serving as the cornerstone of the present and the architects of a bright future for both the UAE and the world.

This edition will explore how empowering youth to lead tolerance initiatives can shape inclusive social structures. This aligns with the UAE’s commitment to nurturing youth leaders focused on mutual respect and understanding, featuring interactive sessions such as “Youth Initiatives to Promote Cultural Coexistence” and “Global Partnerships for Empowering Youth for Tolerance.”
The conference will feature over 100 speakers from various countries and sectors, including representatives from government, diplomacy, academia, religion, and culture. The event is expected to attract over 5,000 participants and will showcase 120 research papers and 25 interactive workshops, reflecting the global importance of empowering youth for a tolerant future.
