Abstract

This presentation delves into the phenotype of autism, offering an integrated perspective that bridges clinical research with practical interventions. A central theme is the analysis of comorbidity, distinguishing between co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and intellectual disability, and psychopathological disorders such as anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. Recognizing the overlap in ADHD symptoms and their influence on autism diagnosis helps refine clinical pathways and clarify differential diagnoses.

Participants will explore the implications of ADHD diagnosis, the signs of ADHD in autistic individuals, and how tailored treatments evolve from early childhood through adolescence. Emphasis will be placed on both the opportunities and limitations of current therapeutic approaches. The session also tracks the developmental trajectory of autism—how traits and abilities shift over time, and what factors contribute to more favorable outcomes. The goal is to enhance clinical decision-making and improve intervention effectiveness by recognizing the full complexity of autistic profiles.
