Abstract
Exercise and Sport for Autism: Misconceptions, Truths and Opportunities
This presentation challenges widespread myths about exercise for autism and highlights the profound benefits of sport for autism and for People of Determination. Participants will explore how physical activities—from team sports to swimming for autism—can significantly improve autism wellness, promote engagement, and support developmental growth. Drawing on the latest research, the session introduces early intervention strategies for autism and naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions that integrate movement into daily routines across home, school, and therapy settings. Attendees will leave with practical tools to create inclusive, active environments that empower individuals on the spectrum and the professionals who work with them.
