Abstract

Applied behaviour analysis and speech therapy have different views on the same behaviour.

ABA specialists investigate “vocal verbal behaviour” in the functional cues. The same behaviour that speech therapists call “speech” is investigated in terms of topography. We know the significance of functionality for child development and prevention of problem behaviour on the one hand. But, on the other hand, topography is extremely important for the development of vocal verbal behaviour.

How can we share our professional expertise while working with children’s needs. I am going to share my experience of working with children and training both speech therapists and behavioural analysts to work effectively and collaboratively with children with vocal verbal behaviour deficits using tools from both areas
