Abstract
Autism is a heterogeneous neurological disorder that is characterized by impairments in communication and social interactions, repetitive behaviours, and sensory abnormalities. Autism may result from an interaction between genetic, environmental, and immunological factors, with oxidative stress as a mechanism linking these risk factors. Identifying neuroinflammatory biomarkers in patients with various severity of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) increases the insight into the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of this neurodevelopmental disorder.
