Abstract

Gifted children have a special learning potential. They often show this potential by performing exceptionally well. However, there are also children whose gifted qualities are not as obvious: the so-called underachievers. How can we support these individuals if we have a hard time identifying them? is question will be explored in this workshop. In this course, we will define the phenomenon of underachievement along with characteristics of underachievement. We will also discuss the causes of it, possibilities for identification in the plenary session, and work out possible support options for teachers and parents. Among participants, the seminar will facilitate an international exchange of experiences.
