Emirates Scholar Participates in INCON–Abu Dhabi Conference on Cities’ Role in the Global Events Industry

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies, subsidiary of Emirates Science and Research Foundation, participated in the INCON Masterclass hosted by the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau. The event focused on the strategic transformation of the global conferences and exhibitions industry—from viewing cities as service providers to recognizing them as strategic partners in creating impactful global events.

The sessions were led by international expert Patrizia Buongiorno, Vice-President of AIM Group International, who emphasized the evolving concept of “destination” A true destination today is not only defined by infrastructure and logistics but also by its ability to tell authentic local stories, foster creativity, and activate local intellectual capital—including universities, research centers, youth talent, and creative communities.

Discussions highlighted the growing expectations of international associations, which now seek greater flexibility, hybrid-ready technologies, and meaningful community engagement. Participants were encouraged to shift away from traditional models of event hosting toward content that delivers deeper impact, innovation, and purpose.

Through its participation, Emirates Scholar reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the UAE’s vision of becoming a global hub for knowledge exchange and scientific dialogue. The center’s role in enriching the intellectual and academic content of major conferences was emphasized, underscoring the UAE’s evolving identity not only as a host of major events but as a knowledge-driven nation where science, innovation, and sustainable impact are central to every international gathering held on its soil.
