Emirates Scholar Participates in the Iftar of Peace in France
A delegation from the Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies, a subsidiary of Emirates Science and Research Foundation, participated in the “Iftar of Peace” organized by the Conference of Imams of France. The event was attended by prominent religious leaders, intellectuals, and key civil society figures. This gathering reaffirmed the importance of peace, fraternity, and coexistence among different religions and cultures, especially in light of the increasing global challenges.
The delegation included Dr. Firas Habbal, President of Emirates Scholar Center and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of Emirates Scholar Center and Board of Trustees Member.
During the event, Imam Hassan Chalghoumi, Imam of Drancy Mosque in Seine-Saint-Denis and President of the Conference of Imams of France, emphasized the significance of such gatherings in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding, stating:
“When we bring together political figures, intellectuals, and representatives of different faiths at the Iftar table, we are not only sharing food, but we are also reinforcing values of integration and fraternity among people from diverse backgrounds. This event is not just a Ramadan tradition, but a living testament to the spirit of solidarity and cooperation, where we come together in an atmosphere of respect and understanding, embodying the essence of Islam’s teachings on tolerance, openness, and constructive dialogue”.
In his remarks, Dr. Firas Habbal, President of the Center and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Trustees, highlighted the importance of initiatives that foster cultural and religious understanding, stating:
“This event serves as a vital platform for strengthening ties between different cultures and faiths. At Emirates Scholar, we firmly believe that scientific research and knowledge are the foundation for building bridges of communication that contribute to a more peaceful and stable future”.
Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of Emirates Scholar Center and Board of Trustees Member, also emphasized the importance of dialogue and international cooperation, stating:
“Productive intellectual exchange between global leaders is a fundamental pillar for enhancing cultural relations and fostering international collaboration. Through scientific research and specialized studies, we remain committed to offering practical insights to address current challenges and support efforts to spread a culture of tolerance and openness”.
Diplomatic Meetings to Enhance Dialogue and Cooperation
The event featured high-level diplomatic meetings, where the Emirates Scholar delegation engaged in discussions with distinguished figures, including H.E. Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, UAE Ambassador to France, H.E. Thani Mohamed, Minister of Francophonie in France, H.E. Élisabeth Borne, Former Prime Minister of France and the French Minister of Education. The discussions focused on the importance of fostering cultural dialogue and peaceful coexistence, as well as exploring avenues for strengthening academic and research collaborations between international institutions.
Emirates Scholar Honored with the Tree of Peace Award
At the conclusion of the event, Emirates Scholar was awarded the “Tree of Peace” Award in recognition of its pioneering initiatives in advancing research on tolerance and promoting intercultural dialogue. This honor follows the success of the 2nd International Dialogue of Civilizations & Tolerance Conference, held in February, where the center launched the “Coexistence Platform“, an academic initiative aimed at enhancing cultural and religious understanding and providing a scientific framework for dialogue and intercultural exchange.
