Abstract
Cellular senescence, aging, is a process of physiological growth arrest, which can be induced by intrinsic or extrinsic stress signals. Aging is a risk factor for many diseases such as cardiovascular disease, dementia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, cancer and type 2 diabetes. Senescence is characterized cell growth arrest, increased accumulation of senescence-associated-β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal), and upregulation of p53, P-p53, and p21 proteins. Senescence of the cancer cells is considered as a new tool for cancer eradication through inhibition of cell proliferation. Moreover, we suggest using natural product to induce extensive apoptosis of senescent cancer cells.
